Everything About Electric Showers Liverpool
Best Electric Shower Install Liverpool
Are you interested in installing a new electric shower in Liverpool. Before you proceed, there are a few things you need to be clear about. In most cases, the first and most important question is about the cost of electric showers in Liverpool. The cost of an electric shower includes the price of the shower itself and the cost of hiring an electrician to install it. Let's discuss this in detail and provide all the information you need about installing an electric shower in Liverpool.

Here at Ideal Electrical solutions we offer a complete installation service for electric showers. We use our expert experience to install high performance showers in no time at all. If you do not currently have an electric shower installed, then installing a new one will require a brand new circuit to be installed. This involves putting a cable from the consumer unit to an isolation switch or pull cord, and then another cable from this switch or pull cord to where you want your shower. Additionally, you will need some plumbing work done to provide the shower with a water supply. This means tapping into your cold water supply at a convenient location so that a new pipe can be taken to your shower to supply water.
This scenario is the most expensive situation and can cost between £700 - £1000. This cost includes the plumbing and electrical work required for the job, but does not include the actual shower. However, we do supply electric showers and if you want us to provide one, it will add a minimum of £100 to the total cost. The cost may increase depending on the type of shower you want. We understand that some customers may have already bought the shower they want, so in that case, we only provide the installation costs.
Suppose you already have an electric shower, and it's not working correctly, or you want to upgrade to a better one. Usually the cheapest option is to get a same model replacement, causing minimum disruption to your bathroom. If you did want a different model, maybe to upgrade, then consider the configuration and power rating to see if it is compatible with your existing setup. In that case, you can purchase the shower you like and then contact Ideal Electrical Solutions to install it. This process is fast, with minimal materials, so the installation cost is lower. We charge a fee of £120 for this service.

What Power Rating Electric Shower Should I Get?
What's The Difference?
When shopping for a new electric shower, it's essential to understand the kW rating before selecting a style or colour. The kW rating indicates the power and pressure of the water in the shower. Electric showers heat cold water before it flows through the shower head, and the kW rating determines how quickly and effectively the water is heated. A higher kW rating means a more powerful shower with greater flow and pressure at higher temperatures. However, a lower kW rating may be more suitable if your home has a smaller water tank or unreliable water supply. 7.5kW and 8.5kW electric showers are gentler, less powerful, less expensive, and more reliable. They are best for households with smaller water tanks or weak water pressure. Electric showers with kW ratings from 9.0kW up to 10.8kW are more powerful and provide a consistent, luxurious shower experience. They are ideal for long, thick hair requiring greater water flow. When selecting an electric shower, ensuring that your household system can support the kW rating is essential. A higher kW rating requires more amps, so you must check that your fuse and cable suit your preferred shower. Having a professional electrician install the shower for you is also vital. Other Factors To Consider For Electric Shower Installs
Does Your Consumer Unit Have An RCD?
When planning to install a new electric shower circuit, the first step is to check for enough space in your consumer unit to add a new circuit. If there isn't enough space, you have two options: upgrade the consumer unit to create space or install a sub-consumer unit. Before beginning the installation process, you must ensure that the consumer unit has RCD (residual current device) protection or can accept an RCBO (residual current circuit breaker with overload protection). Wiring regulations require electrical safety in water zones within the dwelling. Suppose your consumer unit doesn't currently have RCD protection. In that case, you must upgrade it to install the electric shower circuit and further protect all other electrical circuits, ensuring everyone in the house is safe from electrical faults.

How Long Does It Take To Install The Electric Shower?
Quick Electric Shower Installs
If you want to replace an existing electric shower, rest assured that the job can be completed swiftly, typically in one to two hours. This is because less work will be involved. Meanwhile, installing a new shower with a new circuit typically takes three to five hours, so you can be confident that the job will be done efficiently and to a high standard.

How Long Do Electric Showers Last?
Whats The Guarantee?
It is crucial to remember that electric showers have a limited lifespan. On average, they last about 4 to 5 years. However, those living in areas with hard water may experience an earlier failure due to limescale buildup and water conditions. Consider replacing your shower if you notice any signs of wear and tear, such as leaks or water pressure issues. The cost of a new electric shower can vary depending on factors like unit type and installation cost. But with a new shower unit installation, you can benefit from a reliable and efficient shower experience in your bathroom. It is worth noting that Triton showers come with a two year warranty. So, monitor the lifespan of your electric shower and consider replacement when the time comes.

Can I Install An Electric Shower Myself?
DIY Electric Shower Installs
Installing an electric shower can be complicated and should not be attempted by inexperienced DIY enthusiasts. Furthermore, there are several regulations that you need to comply with, such as obtaining an independent, permanently connected supply from an individual unit to your shower and installing a switch that is readily accessible, clearly identifiable, and out of reach of anyone using a fixed bath or shower. A cord-operated switch is acceptable. Suppose you do decide to install the shower on your own. In that case, you may need the appropriate inspections to ensure your installation meets the regulations. We advise never to install an electric shower alone. Instead, hire knowledgeable professionals from Ideal Electrical Solutions to do the job.

Liverpool Electrical Shower Experts
Fit Electric Shower In Liverpool
Showering is an essential daily routine that keeps you refreshed, clean, and hygienic, preparing you for the day's activities. Electric showers are a great addition to households with limited hot water supply, almost instantly providing hot water on demand. They work differently than other showers and are temperature-controlled by adjusting the water flow rate over the heated element. It is crucial to have a Part P-qualified electrician install a new electric shower, which must be supplied on its circuit directly from the metal-clad fuse box, protected by an RCD for safety and compliance.
Our team of experienced NICEIC-qualified electricians offers top-notch electrical services, including electric shower installation in Liverpool's city centre and surrounding areas. Getting The Right Electric Power Shower
Full Power For a Full Shower
When searching for a power shower, it's essential to consider the specific requirements of your home. Suppose you're looking for electric showers in Liverpool. In that case, you should seek advice from experienced electricians, such as our team at Ideal Electrical Solutions. They can provide recommendations and help you choose the best power shower for your home. It's important to note that power showers come with different electrical power ratings, such as 7.5kw, 8.5kw, 9.5kw, and others. However, it's crucial to understand that this rating affects how quickly the water is heated, not the pressure of the water coming out of the shower. The water pressure is dictated by the water pressure within the home, not by the shower's electrical power rating. Therefore, it's essential to consider the electrical power rating and water pressure within your home when selecting the perfect power shower. Consulting with an experienced electrician can help you make an informed decision. This is crucial to avoid low water pressure or electrical malfunctions. So, take the time to do your research and find the best electric shower for your Liverpool home.

Bathroom safety - What are the Electrical zones in a Bathroom ?
Electricity Is Dangerous
In order to ensure the safety of any electrical installations within bathrooms, en-suites, shower rooms and wet rooms, there are wiring regulations in place which provide guidance of the design, installation, testing, and certification of them.

These regulations BS 7671:2018 Requirements for Electrical Installations, section 701 divide the bathroom into different zones based on the electrical risk in each area. This will take into account factors such as how close they are to water, humidity and condensation, plus how likely any electrical items in the area is to get wet.
Bathroom light fittings and installations are given an IP (Ingress Protection) rating which is matched to the zones for which they are suited.
Here we explain the zones in more detail.

Bathroom zone 0
This is the area which is located inside the bath, basin or shower and is defined as ‘any area in the bathroom which can hold water’. Any fitting or appliance installed in this area must be a maximum of 12 volts (SELV) and have an IP rating of minimum IPX7.

Bathroom zone 1
This is the area above Zone 0 extending up to a height of 225cm or the ceiling (whichever is the lower). Zone 1 also extends out to a circumference of 1.2m meters from the shower head if there is no shower tray or basis, for example in a wet room or similar. This area is considered the ‘splash zone’ where any electrical equipment is likely to get very wet quickly, but would not be likely to be submerged. Any installation in this area must be IPX4 or higher, as well as a maximum of 12 volts (SELV) with the transformer being located outside of zone 2.

Bathroom zone 2
This area is beyond one, extending up to a height of 3m and horizontally to 60cm. Only SELV devices are allowed in this zone. The minimum IP rating here is IPX4.

Bathroom zone 3/Outside zones
When the size of a bathroom extends beyond zones 0, 1 and 2, portable equipment can be used if it has flex length which does not enable them to be used beyond this ‘safe’ area. Electrical equipment in this area such as light fittings or sockets do not have to have an IP number, however, for your safety, it is strongly recommended that electrical items do have moisture protection.
Bathroom safety – Ingress protection ratings
Electrics and water Safety
Ingress Protection Ratings are a system for identifying the level of protection required for specific zones within your bathroom or shower room. Any electrical device which is designed to be used in a bathroom will have an IP rating, including items such as extractor fans, showers, heaters, and lighting.
IP ratings are always followed by two numbers, the first of which relates to the degree in which the device is protected from solid particles, and the second number denotes the degree to which it is protected from moisture. The higher the number, the better protected it is.
Which light fittings are safe for my bathroom?
Bathroom Lights In Liverpool
Ideally, all light fittings in your bathroom should be enclosed, as opposed to a light fitting that hangs down from the ceiling. As set out above, light fittings are given IP ratings to ensure their suitability for the zone in which they are located.

Ideal Electrical Solutions can help you with your bathroom lighting installations. From a single enclosed fitting to creating a truly ambient experience using colours, different lighting tones and downlighters, we help you to ensure that your bathroom or shower room offers a relaxing or invigorating experience every time you step in.
Which Spotlights for the bathroom ?
Warm Light Or Cool Light
Installing spotlights can be a popular choice for bath and shower rooms, as this offers you a good strength of light, allowing you to easily do everyday things like apply makeup, ensure that you get the closest shave and can see well to keep the room clean.
Bathroom light switches
Can A Bathroom Light Switch Go Inside My Bathroom ?
Any light fitting which is not enclosed must be out of reach of anyone using or still wet from the bath or shower. The same applies to your light switches, everyday switches pose a danger because of dampness and wet hands. A ceiling mounted wall switch is the safest option.
